Where do y'all record your photo data ?

I have a spreadsheet that I can access on my phone and home computer. I keep track of info from shooting, developing, and printing each negative. It also contains info on reciprocity for the films that I use, tracking and issues with film holders, EI and developing info, filter factors, guide number and flashbulb info, etc.

I use Rite in the Rain surveying notebooks. Waterproof, write in pencil.

I like the 5x7 size -- I use the Level design, #311FX. I write what I need to, in about the same format over the years -- no need for labeled boxes or lines to fill out.

I have a stack of them starting in the 1980s. Below is an example page -- and the photo from the negative recorded on the top of the page. And an example of a recent 4x5 negative in its paper envelope and its data transferred to the envelope (in pencil). Printing process and dates will be added when printed.

My later books are a little more refined. At the time of these entries, I also was keeping tabs on my three 8 year olds, so entries were usually hurried. The little drawings have not gotten much better over time.

PS...I read Maris' post below;
I record each exposure because I want to match the SBR in front of me with the film, developer, and the printing process within a narrow usable contrast range (and shadow detail). And I am not exactly consistent with the type of film, developer, process formulas, and how I approach an image. Every set of images are an experiment. Right now I am in the middle of a project/experiment/love where I am making 4x5 negatives up Redwood Creek on Kodak Pro Copy Film developed in PyrocatHD...eventually for small intimate carbon prints. Part of and a slight departure from a longer continuing photographing of the light of Redwood Creek and the redwoods in general.

So notes are invaluable to me, so that I can repeat something that I actually get right.

I used to record film exposure data but haven't done so for years. Why?
It turned out that all my film exposures were the same, namely full exposure, arrived at by a spot metering protocol that never much varied leading to Zone placements that were essentially the same: deep shadows on III and highest values on VIII or thereabouts.

Film development was always normal and the N+ and N- adjustments I used to do were replaced by just going up and down grades on modern variable contrast paper.

On the other hand I keep detailed photo notes for every print I make. The notes go with the negatives and prints in the same archival storage box.

For me it’s now Film Shots an app for a smartphone or something on a computer, before that just notebooks. And they are all lost.

3x5 card filled out during capture on one side - then development info on the back. I number them and put then in a 3x5 card box. The negs get the number in the 4x4x5 binder or 5x12 plastic cover. I suppose one day I could put it all in a database.

Lately I've been using my cellphone or digital P&S camera to record voice descriptions of settings and other details. Then transcribing them to note paper when I get home. I can also snap a shot or use the video to record the same shot I am taking with the film camera. Since I scan my film, I can keep the note and still/videos in the same computer folder as the film scans for future reference.

Do you find them useful vs just making notes in a regular notebook ? I think I NEED discrete fields cuz I sometimes forget to note stuff and something already formatted will keep me from forgetting.
