Calibrating Pentax Digital 1 Deg. Zone VI Modified Meter

I have a Pentax digital 1 deg., Zone VI spot meter that needs calibrations. Is there any reason why a local camera repairman couldn't do this calibration? Or, does the calibration need to be completed by someone knowedgeable about the internal modifications?

I purchased this meter a while ago in the FS section, and it reads about a stop too low.

    (I know, I know . . . I should have checked it right when it arrived. )

I suggest checking with Richard Ritter, a forum member, who used to produce these for Zone VI and still calibrates them.

I've had Richard do it a couple of times over the years, and he would be my first choice, but I expect that anyone capable of calibrating a Pentax Digital Meter should be able to do it.

Memory tells me I reached out to Richard Ritter about calibrating the older Pentax analog V5 meter. I believe he indicated there was an adjustment screw in the front above the trigger which allowed for adjusting the sensitivity so that at least like meters would read the exact same light values. I do not know if that option exists on the Digital version. Beyond that, I would highly recommend Richard for anything related to LF photography...anything !!

You have a local camera repairman? Lucky you. But if you have to send it out, Mr. Ritter is your man.

When I calibrate modified meters I check the filters, they sometimes fail due to age and the conditions they are used in.

Thanks everyone. I just received a response from Richard, so will definitely send meters to him.

Chiming in late here...to say that Richard did mine a couple years back and since then the meter has been flawless! As many here know about Richard in these matters....he's da man!
