    Re: Help me with Paint

If you're looking for stability, have you considered 1x1 strips of wood on all of the inside joints, glued and screwed, rather than dowels? Dowels aren't that strong, and you run the risk of light leaks if you job is less than perfect. Strips would be stronger, easier, and make their own light traps if your joints aren't perfect. Since they're on the inside, they won't uglify it either.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

    Re: Help me with Paint

Soon I need Grex 5/8" Pins for faster glue up

btw, I will use my trailer floor as I think it the flattest and the Advantech floor

Use it for JIG, put some screws through the box base to hold it. Apply glue and pin

Will wax paper under glue up be a good idea?

Or raise base on forms to keep base out of glue

    Thinking out loud here

I'd put the box on strips and forget the wax paper. And be sparing with the glue!

I wood! prefer to roll paint on the panels before assembly

However, I worry that will be bad for glue and screw, lessening glue adhesion, does that blue masking tape interfere?

I will be glueing 1/2 sq hardwood dowels at all intersections, then paint

    What glue is recommended?
Go ahead and paint all your panels prior to glue up, use Gorilla Glue and dampen the surfaces to be glued. Original Gorilla Glue is PuR adhesive (polyurethane reactive) and will bond dang near anything, dampening the items to be glued speeds up the reaction and causes it to expand (foam) filing cracks and small holes. I used to use it when assembling melamine panels (plastic coated) in my cabinet shop. I would also advise not to dowel the pieces, instead use internal gussets.

    Re: Help me with Paint

I used a similar glue 25 years making a tiny boat

Very messy trying to glue boat stringers on a form

But very strong, dampness is needed

I don't care how the inside looks, but aim for better outside box

Now I consider No glue on the 6mm edges, just nail gun pins

Then Gorilla glue the 1/2" full length square hardwood dowels inside

After box is BOX add outside linear edges everywhere possible with thin aluminum 90 degree angle extrusions

    Thanks all!

adding steel corners from a supplier like this https://www.diyroadcasesstore.com/

For all my restoration work and camera projects I use this - lamp black...blacker than black (not suited for outside work):

What temp can it handle inside a white wood box

Local temps reach 110 F with high humidity
