Filter size and thread pitch for Schneider Xenar 150mm f/3.5

I have a Schneider Xenar 15cm f/3.5 dated to 1929. I would like to use filters on it and as far as I have been able to determine the filter thread is likely 40.5mm with a 0.5mm pitch. Can anyone confirm this or provide the actual specifications?

Also, if the pitch is indeed 0.5mm does anyone know a current brand that makes these (as opposed to the common 0.75mm pitch thread)?

I can't answer your question directly. However, 40.5mm filters do exist, and the threads on filters are tapered. A standard filter should screw on by a couple of turns and hold in place, in a pinch. Of course this would marr the threads a little, even if you don't force it the paint would eventually wear off.

On my 150mm with the text "Xenar f:3,5 F=15cm D.R.P.a. Jos.Schneider & Co Kreuznach No 28xxxx" is a 43.5 to 52mm adapter. This lens covers at least 9x12cm.
But you might have a different lens....

A potential option would be to use a slip-on series filter adapter.

They used slip-on filters back then, and the thread is usually for the front element retaining ring and not meant for accessories. But sometimes you might be lucky and can use the thread.
