Film Labs in Peru and Chile that process LF film-E6 and C41?

    Hi all,

I am planning a trip to Peru and Chile for this Fall, probably September. I would like to shoot some LF film, preferably 5x7 but at least 4x5. I have some Fuji VELVIA 100 that I cannot shoot here in the USA and some Kodak EKTAR 100. I did a little internet surfing for film labs in Peru and Chile and found a couple in Lima, Peru, and Santiago, Chile. However, these labs only talked about developing 35mm and MF film, no mention of LF. And their websites were in Spanish, which I do not really speak or read.

So does anybody here know of film labs in Peru or Chile that develop LF|5x7 and/or 4x5 E6 and C41 film?

I've only been to Peru, but I wouldn't rely on labs there.
My 120 film came back very unevenly processed, along with an ungodly amount of dust and fingerprints.
I think I threw the film in the garbage at the lab, it was that unusable.
And don't leave anything valuable in your checked luggage, baggage handlers will take it.
This was 2007 and 2008, so maybe things have changed.

You might want to inquire at a local camera store or camera club for members that can offer advise. There's a Meetup group in Santiago https://www.meetup.com/PhotogChile/ whose members may know of a local film photographer that can point you in the right direction - perhaps even home develops their film and has the necessary processing equipment. Likewise you can search for local professional photographers that might be able to help. B&W wouldn't pose as big a problem as you can bring a tank and enough chemistry with you to develop in a hotel/motel room. I went on several overseas 30-day bicycle tours shooting C-41 and E-6 135 and developed most of it back at home.

Ari, thanks for sharing your personal experience. I read about a lab in Lima called Taller de Fotografía Profesional. However, I do not know anybody who has tried them.

Thomas, thanks for the suggestion. I will look into this meetup group.
