Kodak 2D: Dating by the Name Plate Changes

A number of years ago I was trying to date my then new to me Kodak 2D. Some website had a listing of the six or so changes in the name plate wording and the year ranges that each change covered.

This was a definitive listing not a series of anecdotical postings on a message board.

I was trying to review that info again this week but couldn't find the info.

Any one recall where that info is published?

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

You can also date them by the serial number stamped on the frame under the rear standard.

No idea about the date relationship with name plates, but you could inquire over on Photrio. There’s a thread named “ Dating my Kodak 2D 8x10” and user shutterfinger has been quite helpful in dating cameras buy the serial number.

    Hope this helps,

I understood that to be an assembly number.

On mine, you have to swing the rear standard to the left to see the serial number.

TYhat does look like a real SN.

Where can I find the relationship between the SN and the date of mfg?
