    Special cloth for dark cloth

There is (was?) a type of cloth which was a white cloth on one side and a rubber-coated black cloth on the other side. If it was big enough, you could cut a beautiful, very useful dark cloth from it. It had a great weight, was cool in the sun, and could be used as a rain tarp over your large format camera if it was necessary. Any clue where that type of cloth can be found today?

I have used the cloth used for making backings for draperies - called blackout cloth. I got it at a fabric store. I think there were two kinds - one that was semi dark and the other that was completely dark. I also used the stuff to make a cover for my bathroom window. I can now develop film during the daytime.

Here is a site where they sell roc-lon black out material. I think it is sold only white both sides, or black both sides. So you would have to cover one side with black or white, respectively.

Not sure about that particular material, but the dark cloth that my mother made for me back in high school is still the best I've ever used. Full blackout material on one side, black corduroy on the other. Stays in place in the wind, protects from rain, nice and dark, and never slips off the camera. Also nice and warm when wrapped around the shoulders when shooting in the winter!

    Special cloth for dark cloth

I found a cloth in a large fabric store that is black fabric on one side, and rubberized grey on the other. It is in the "outdoor" section of the store.
