The Sony Nex 5 series seems to be one of the cheapest mirrorless cameras when considering the quality vs price. It's also very easy to adapt manual lenses to, so you could mount a 55mm Micro Nikkor- a very popular lens for "scanning" film with.

Note of caution when buying an older digital camera--make sure batteries are available. Many digital cameras use dedicated batteries and if the camera has been discontinued for long enough, batteries may not be available. And a digital camera without a functioning battery is worthless.

Thank you all for the excellent advice. Appreciated the push back to try to use my iphone again. It is a 13 mini and the images of my analog photos looked ok but when enlaged to the specs that many shows required (3000 pixls on the longest side) they lost sharpness and detail. I will give the iphone another try before looking into the Sony.
