    Thank you so much for sharing this. Brings back memories. It's been ten years since I've been deeply off-trail in the upper Kern drainage, though I have made a couple lesser trips in my late 60's over the top. Now nearly 73, I don't think I'll ever be in a mood for hot ole Shepherd Pass, however. But I still use LF gear on most trips. Trying to get back in shape now, but getting lazzzzeeeee. ... put on a big pack but wander only a few miles at a time and then find something especially photogenic, and don't get any further. On one hundred-miler before the pandemic I chose a 6x9 RF instead, but on my very last long trip prior, took a 4X5 Ebony folder with 6X9 roll film backs.

    I've been linking some of your backcountry trips for quite awhile now, David. But that just gets me homesick. I grew up in the Sierra, and had property there on the deep San Joaquin canyon until fairly recently.
