Nebo flashlight as a flash extender?

OK, I hope this isn't a crazy question. But lately I've been getting into photographing birds, and I picked up one of those flash extenders, which not exactly sold on in terms of "does it really work". So 3 weeks ago, I was in a Starbucks getting a coffee and I happen to have my gear with me, and another photographer took notice and that started our discussion about my struggles with bird photography. I shared with him I was having a tough time with lighting, he recommended to get a bright flashlight. He recommended a flashlight brand called Nebo. I don't know squat about flashlights so I want digging around and found this review https://www.4wdtalk.com/nebo-flashlight-review/

So this thing is 12,000 lumens, that is bright! How in the world are you supposed to use this in conjunction with your shutter firing? Or do you just use a cable release and fire the light at the same time? Honestly, I'm still a bit confused with this guys suggestion to use a flashlight.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks gang.

Someone will reply with real lighting advice, but as someone who likes flying creatures please do not point 12000 lumen lights at them.

I once was given a 6 car headlight fixture, not made for lighting

I did use it with car battery to 'flash mob' bars at their door

It illuminated my car mounted sculpture, 1985

I suggest using 'Bulb' with flash bulbs

However do not use a modern camera with transistors

Camera on Tripod, use BULB setting to open shutter, fire the fire manually, this can be done quickly, shut shutter

I use tiny LED for finding corners

    I also have Laser RF

Home Depot work lamp reflectors are $5, add 2 D cells

Hey thanks guys, so what would you say would be the brightest number of lumens you would use for this, and yet have enough power to make a difference with the exposure? Thanks again!

    Do some research

Big flashbulbs are still used in caves
