Adjusting Tightness of Saunders Master Paper Easel

    Dear All,

I have a 16x20 Saunders Master paper easel (the version with knobs) with a somewhat loose blade. The knob itself is firm, but the tension in the spring that holds the blade along the outside track is loose compared to the other three blades. Unlike the others, if you graze the loose one, it will move. Could anyone share how to tighten up the blade?

Always appreciative of everyone’s help and insight here!

Something might be broken. Can you take it apart and have a peek.

Does it look anything like this?

You can bend the spring to make it stronger.

post a picture of what you think is the problem? take the knob off? maybe its just a spring washer or a rasp washer or it nerds another washer as a shim?

    Dear All,

Thank you for your replies. The knob in question appears identical to the one shown in IC-Racer’s picture. (See photo below.) Even though I took the entire knob mechanism off the rail, it’s seemingly impossible to get the spring (red arrow in photo) out from inside to bend it. Any attempt to bend it while it was still inside made no difference in its stiffness. Eventually, I tried wedging a paper shim (the white material seen in the photo) in behind the spring, which made it virtually as stiff as the other knobs. For now, I guess the problem is solved. But if anyone could enlighten me how to remove the spring for future reference, I would be greatly appreciative!
