    RIP William "WFW" Whitaker

I am sorry to report that longtime forum member and my good friend Will Whitaker died on February 2, 2022. He suffered an Intracranial Hemorrhage aka a "Brain Bleed".
Will is survived by his siblings and their families.

This breaks my heart. I had a wonderful day getting to know Will photographing his beloved Western North Carolina mountains.

He was easy to like and easy to share the scene with.

    This is a loss

Tracy, thanks for sharing. I am so sorry - although we never met in person we corresponded via email on occasion and I bought a few of his cameras over the years too. A true gentleman - generous and helpful always.

He had only a minimal website, for a while. I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to see more of his work. He did leave this on Flickr:

This is very sad, and a real loss.

I met Will about twenty years ago when he was living in the Bay Area. We went photographing, and kept in touch after he moved away. I always enjoyed hearing
from him, and will miss our exchanges.

My thoughts are with Will's family and those fortunate to know him.

So sorry to hear about the death of Will. We corresponded many times and traded a lot of equipment, and I had the pleasure to meet Will in Connecticut at a lecture by Shelby Lee Adams. Unfortunately never had the chance to photograph with him.

That’s terrible. I also shared many a conversation with Will. He was a very likable fellow. May he rest in peace.
