Dulles, VA Photo Image and Classic Gear Show 03/13/22

I posted this information on the Business thread because I will be at this show and have space I could share with another photographer in the Northern Virginia area. For anyone else, these are good shows with cash buyers. They like gelatin/silver prints mounted or unmounted. Many buyers are looking for a particular subject matter and many are gallery owners who will frame and resell. Now images and photo gear, which used to be in separate rooms, are combined, so you could sell your work and your extra gear at the same time. Here are the details. Contact Mary Martin soon.

Are the photos and equipment supposed to be antiques also? If so, what’s the allowed period and theme?

I started going to these shows in Boston in the 80s. They were then being run by Russell Norton, who also had them in NYC and Washington DC. There were shows strictly limited to antique images and shows that permitted both images and gear. When I came to VA in 1991, he let me show prints at his shows in Arlington because I made gelatin silver prints. No gear was allowed in the image room at that time. Since Mary took over the operation she has been more pragmatic, and now vendors can have classic film/plate equipment and related collectibles on the same tables and in the same room. It's a great opportunity to see some fantastic work, that's why I like to work the room myself and not be behind my own table all the time.
