    Ansco/Agfa 5x7 questions

I'am thinking about buying an Ansco 5x7.
    Here my questions

    1. Do they handle 90mm lenses? If not, are there cameras with this design which does?
    2. Are the Ansco lensboards large enough to adapt my 4x4 Wisner boards?

    Thanks

    Re: Ansco/Agfa 5x7 questions

The typical 5X7 Ansco lens board is ~5.2" square.
No problem to make (or have made) an adapter board that will use 4x4" boards.
I don't have a 90mm lens to check infinity focus, but my feeling is that it would be tight.
The camera is pretty bulky, and might not compress far enough.
Maybe...with a recessed lens board, a small rear element lens, and no movements?

    Thanks

A resessed lens board should not be the problem

I have the 5x7 Agfa Ansco model without front swing and so my answers pertain to that model. I use an adapter to mount my lenses, which are on Technica-style lens boards, virtually the same size as your Wisner boards, so using an adapter should not be a problem.

Also, you should be able to use a 90mm lens on the model without front swing but the use of any camera movements will be very limited.

Ebay seller zbima1 would be a good source for a lensboard adapter.

    Re: Ansco/Agfa 5x7 questions

I own Ansco 5x7 with front rise movements. Compressed bellows limiting front movements, recessed lensboard would help (which I don’t have).
I’ve seen at least four modifications of Agfa Ansco 5x7 (and all said about usage of 90 mm is valid for all of them).
    Home portrait (rigid front).
    Front rise.
    Front rise / shift.
Geared front, it seems this one is most comon and heaviest.
Ansco Agfa 5x7 were positioned as studio cameras.
Best choice for usage in the field imho are second and third due to reduced weight.
All they have big, sturdy front standard which is quite easy to modify for additional movements or adaptation for variious lensboards.
