Information on early Zeiss lens - Millimetre system

Anybody with knowledge on early zeiss camera optics?
I’ve had a 196mm Carl Zeiss anastigmat lens for years but have only been able to find a few references about it.
It’s probably 1890’s, using not the fstop scale but zeiss millimetre aperture scale, numbers corresponding to actual mm diameter of aperture.
It’s quite small in size but covers 8x10 easily, excells at 4x5.

Any info on the millimetre system would be appreciated.

There are some descriptions about the mm system in Zeiss catalogue here. Read from p14.
I also have a mm scale barrel for the protarlinse VIIa.

Also, look at some supplier catalogues from circa 1880-1910 here and you will find lots of listings and illustrations on Zeiss lenses from the era.

I forgot to mention that the Bausch and Lomb catalogues are especially informative in Zeiss lenses of the era since they had the US rights to manufacture their designs.

Are there different focal lengths marked on the rim of the front and rear elements? Could be part of a casket set, with the aperture in millimetres so you can look up in the tables the F-number, according to the elements you have installed.
