Not just Minolta, Olympus, Canon and others made "macro photo" bellows lenses.

Before these were Zeiss Luminar (UltraPhot), Leitz Photar and others. They were parts of their Macro photo systems.
We have been here before in 2017:

Gave up on all of them after the Wild/Leica M420 with fiber optic lighting system arrived solving this type of imaging very, very, very nicely.

I'm salivating, but actual microphotography is not in my equipment budget quite yet.

I'd rather not lug a large, $4,000 microscope into the wilderness.

Heh... M420 is NOT portable at all.
Or bring the "subject" indoors as most lab folks do, not always possible.

It can be done for very little money. If you already have a bellows, you are all set. If not, these are easy to find for around $20. And short focal length lenses (bellows or enlarging) can be picked up for about the same. You might need an adapter or two, but these are easy to find and cheap. Here's a list for short focal length enlarging lenses:

Here are two other places to explore.

Thanks, but, well, uh, er ... I'm kinda nostalgic for my ole days with a fully equipped Zeiss research microscope setup, way more than I could afford myself in those college days; but I spent about 3 hrs a day in that deluxe Microbiology lab, plus an equal amount of time in a Micro-Paleontology and Mineralogy lab with its own special microscopes. My personal microscope was stolen before then. I'm interested in phase-contrast and dark phase especially, but just for fun; I already have on hand way too much large format color work to print.
Basic sheet film macro work can easily be done using my numerous Sinar rail and bellows extensions. But I'd like to go real micro before it's too late. Dunno. One more thing on my bucket list before I outright kick the bucket.

    Hi,

Thank you again for your messages : )!!!

Usually it is either a 135mm. or 150mm. that
will be advised for a field camera, to fold up
    inside of it. I have a 135mm. The 150mm.
is relatively similar in focal length.

I wanted to see what else might be out there
with a longer focal length, but that it may still
fit in inside the camera folded up. That's why
was the question. The camera is used for
portraiture mainly. A longer lens would more
often be used either for shots from the waist up,
    or from the chest up.

That's why I was curious to see and know if
a longer focal length may upend my game.

    The 180mm. f/5.6 Sironar-N, that was previously
recommended on this thread, and whose
overall length was also mentioned at 57mm.
and filter ring of 58mm., seems like an interesting
choice as well. I just wonder if the camera would
fold up with that particular lens inside.

    Thank you kind regards!

    Ig

Since you mention lens length and portraiture, you might want to look at the Fujinon W 150mm f6.3 -- it's 33mm front to back, with a 4/3 design:

There were five, slightly different, versions -- all single coated:

    Hi xkaes,

It looks like a jewel of a lens! By the given measures, it is a super compact lens.
It would fold up nicely in any field camera, I think.

Looking at a longer lens like the Sironar-N 180mm., f/5.6, do you think one could fold it
up in a field camera like any of the Horsemans H cameras, or the Toyo Fields,
or the Linhof Technikas, to name some?

    Thank you, kind regards!
