Backpack Insert, Hook and loop, Moli

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/31274019391...4AAOSwSO1hlolc

Anybody ever repurpose something like this for organizing photo grar in a backpack?

The line of products are oriented towards the "tactical" user, but I got to thinking that this insert might be useful for adapting a serious hiking backpack for use with photo gear. Much like the discontinued PhotoBackpacker concept for adapting Kelty Redwing bags with an insert.

Some colors available are relativly neutral.

I am making one for my rail cameras, making my own version of the trekpak system with a little more padding.

Interesting: Please share how you do that.

I am imagining collecting plastic campaign signs after an election (with permission), then cutting the corrugated plastic into strips 3"6" wide (or whatever works) and gluing hook and loop material to that. Then buying the clips from the TekPac company to hold it all together.

Y'all also might consider molle panels as a platform:
    https://www.amazon.com/PETAC-GEAR-Po...8-3&th=1&psc=1
which give you a useful rigidity without adding the Cordura weight penalty. I've given a thought to retrofitting a Mystery Ranch duffle with one as a kind of mega-ICU for my Sinar Norma 8x10. (FWIW, I've always liked the old school fstop Harney packs as a molley/PALs compatible option.)

    ^^

Yes, I've seen that system. Looks good too. Your point about "Codura weight" is valid, but a photographer would then have to figure out the pouches that would hold the photo gear. I am not aware of a line of Mily compatible photo oriented protective pouches.

I am heavily invested in the now discontinued PhotoBackpacker system of protective semi-rigid boxes. this precludes the military oriented slot and strap mounting system referred to as MOLLY.

I'm not sure what kind of load carriage you're aiming for, but with the Photobucket system this might come in useful:

which gives you both a hook-and-loop field and a molle field around an HDPE core for a bit of rigidity. I ran this panel for a number of years when working out of a toploading backpack--very useful keeping small but needful items for burrowing to the bottom of the stack.

HillPeople also has this bucket attachment that might be useful for Tripod attachment Outside and Center rather than side mounted. https://www.hillpeoplegear.com/Produ...7/ProductID/80
The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

I actually run one of those on a 50L panel loader that doesn't have wand pockets, though in the past I've cobbled together something similar with a couple of Grimlock carabineers and a chalk bag. Works nicely with both my Induro and various long arms.

I bought a 4 x 8 sheet of black chloroplast material, and some closed cell foam 1/2" thick. cut the chloroplast into appropriate sized strips and made a box out of that for the outline of the backpack. I did get clips from Pelican, which carries trekpak accessories, and made compartments for the equipment I'm using. I also modded my polaroid 110a to take 4x5 so that its a lot easier to pack...

There are several references to Photobucket in this thread. What is that?
