And I have seen where the daylight exposure can be brighter than normal..

During the last drought here, spent most every day on the street shooting here, but noticed an exposure issue that came up... The skies were dark blue, not a cloud or haze in sight, but my readings were one stop over "sunny 16", as conditions were even brighter than expected (every day), so metering saved my bacon...

Smoke 'em if 'ya got 'em... ;-)

I always meter for LF, but I have several meterless 35mm or medium format cameras that I like to practice “guess the exposure” with. And as someone who lives in the sunny southwest, sunny 16 works well on a sunny day here.

When I scuba-dived, I had a little underwater light meter that I used. Basically a little Sekonic in a waterproof plastic housing. I have no idea how Sunny 16 would work down there.

    It looked like this. https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Water.../dp/B0861WG16Q

I have the same camera. I used it with the bulb flash. Too much task loading with bulbs at depth. I stopped using it.

Almost as difficult as changing bulbs underwater is changing film underwater!

A fern or stump under tree cover is something else. Typically, 1/4 f:8 (100 ISO) or 1" f:16. Guesstimating these is risky, at least for me.
