210 mm Fujinar - any opinions?

I recently bought one in a Shanel shutter - wanted the shutter (not the lens) to front moutn a few older lenses

But just thought I'd ask about the Fujinar - since I have it, I probably should try it

A tessar-formula from a solid company with great performing lenses? I'm going to bet that it's pretty good if you like Tessars. They're not for everyone.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

That's what I was thinking it was. I've rummaged around the web a bit and it seems that a set of Fujinars (180, 210, 250) was more or less the standard complement for the photographers who waited around major Japanese tourist attractions to take "I was there" photos. Seem to have good reputations (the lenses that is) so I'll definitely give it a try. It was quite inexpensive- $129 in shutter, which was less than most of the shutters were selling for minus lenses. I also found out that the Shanel 5A, 5B shutters were made for these lenses and came with adapters to fit them. The A was for front mounting and didn't have an aperture, the B was for normal mounting and did have an aperture. Anyone have anything to add or correct in this story? I'll try to get a couple of photos today if I feel up to it. Just got home from a weeklong vacation in the hospital so I'm not moving around much yet and picking up the camera is still a bit of a challenge.

I have a Fujinar 210/4.5 and a 250/4.7, both in Copal 3 shutters. I’m very happy with the results, and find myself using the 250 quite a lot. If I can tolerate the weight penalty, I’ll take the 210 instead of my 200/8 M-Nikkor. Even at the same aperture, I prefer the out of focus rendering from the Fujinar, and I do know they’re both Tessars, but the Fujinar gives more pleasant results. If you keep the shutter, someone with a 250/4.5 in the Shanel shutter with both aperture scales will probably be happy to buy your 210 cells, as they should just screw into their shutter and give them a 2nd lens for a good price.

Thanks. I wasn't up to doing much today, but hopefully in the next day or two I can get the lens on a board. I'm thinking of mounting the shutter to a Technika board and making up an adapter that will accept a Technika board and mount it to the front of the shutter with just enough separation to allow me to see the speed markings - basically the shutter would be something that could then sit between any barrel lens mounted on a Technika board, and my Technika. I 3D print my own "Technika" boards so they're pretty cheap.
