Re: Large Format Channels on YouTube

Francesco Fragomeni has been a member of this forum since 2010. He started a new YouTube channel, Absolutely Analog, eight months ago.

His latest video, published today, is about a 20x24 camera that he built. The camera, with a link to the video, is the subject of a current thread called My 20x24 Camera Build.

Francesco's channel also has a 7-part series on building his darkroom, and videos on the daguerreotype process, which he studied in Toronto with Mike Robinson. This video is about working with Robinson:

For those who are interested, the Victoria and Albert Museum also has a video in which Mike Robinson demonstrates the daguerrotype process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAPgdo5H7ZY

I've added Francesco's Absolutely Analog to the list of U.S. large format channels in post #1 of the thread.

Is there any way of downloading the full videos onto a CD instead of just the links?

My understanding is that subscription to YouTube Premium includes the ability to download videos. Without Premium, downloading other people's videos violates YouTube's terms of service. If you want to do it anyway, there are apps and browser extensions that make it possible. However, some of these may introduce malware to your computer. PCMag has an article, How to Download YouTube Videos, on apps that it believes are safe. Some of these have to be purchased, but a few are free.

Why would you need a CD, when you can easily go to youtube and watch them??

Believe it or not there are regions in the UK where the Internet is so slow and unreliable it can be painful just trying to watch a YouTube video.

Not just in the UK Now that I know why you're asking... One of the applications discussed in the PCMag article above is VLC Media Player. It's been around for over 20 years, it's legit, it's free and it will apparently do what you want. This is the Wikipedia article about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VLC_media_player The VLC website: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Finally got off my backside and installed a new wet side counter in my darkroom... Found the counter at local hardware store for "reasonable" price.
Hopefully will be processing some 14x17 XRAY pinholes on it this afternoon...

Much more comfortable in there now. I can now easily wipe up any spills where as before, the old counter would just soak it up

    I really enjoyed this one.
