    One day when I was inspired, I said : Photography isn’t just a recording medium, it’s also a playback medium. When the thing that you play back is somehow richer than the thing you recorded, that’s one way of making a good photograph.

    A "good" photograph speaks to the viewer in a way that communicates something more than just information about the subject matter. In fact, the subject matter can be and often is irrelevant to what the picture communicates. A picture is "really good" if it continues to speak to you for a long time after you first see it, and after repeated viewings.

    Which is another way of saying what lenicolas said.
