We have bike thieves up here, but it's usually cut and run, while you're sitting in a coffee shop. I have been looking at an e-bike, but scared it'll get stolen.

What about a Segway? Are they still a thing?
Why not a full-on electric trail bike?
A Golf Cart?

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!
Electric trail bikes are getting more and more useful here in the Northwest at least. About once a year a remote road is washed out so vehicles can longer access it, if you can get a bike around the washout though you often have the entire area to yourself (or at least vastly reduced crowds). Some National Park roads have been washed out for years with probably no hope of ever re-opening to vehicles, but on a bike you are golden. On an e-bike even better because some of these roads are seriously steep (1000 feet / per mile or more..)
Illinois bans eBikes off road and on some bikeways
This too will pass
