Lens datasheet for Schneider 72mm Super Angulon XL

Owned this 72mm f5.6 SAXL since new, excellent lens in every way. No other LF lens offers 115 degrees angle of view with an image circle large enough to cover 5x7 _ 13x18cm with very modest camera movements. Very often used for interiors and other images requiring extreme angle of view.

Relative lens size to 75mm f4.5 Grandagon, 75mm f6.8 Grandagon. 95mm front filter size, often ok without center filter for B&W, color transparencies often demand the proper center filter.

Thanks Bernice for the graphs! I'm also looking for the MTFs for the 90mm SA XL and Super Symmar 110mm XL. I use all three on a 617 camera and noticed that the 110 is sharper than the 72, I'm curious to see if the MTF graphs reflect this.

FYI, still own and use all three of the lenses mentioned.

The 38mm Super Angulon XL lives on a 6x9 wide angle 120 roll film camera.

The 72mm Super Angulon XL is used on 5x7 or 13 x 18cm when that extreme angle of view is required.

The 110mm Super Symmar XL is used much less these days as it has been effectively replaced by a 115mm f6.8 Grandagon ( which was what the 110mm SSXL replaced back in the late 1990's).

All these lenses are Fab in every way, never disappointing with their optical performance. One can obsess over their published MTF curves and such, but don't look too much into them as they are calculated and does not reflect normal production variations and all those realities. Regardless, they are all extremely capable of producing absolutely excellent images.
