I'm starting to think that it is related to the time of day, the time of year, and even the angle in relationship between where the camera is pointed and the sun! I'm thinking that I have more success when I'm pointing the camera at 90 degrees to the direction of the sun. At least that seemed to be the case today!

Looks like there is some blurring of the branches of the pine trees, kind of unexpected at 1/200 sec?

Well, there was a problem here. I was testing my SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM lens on my D810. Turns out there is a firmware problem with that lens / camera combination. I have to send it back to Sigma to be fixed. Anyway AF was not working. The focus did not go where I wanted. When I looked at the image, I knew it was not ideal. But then, it also was too good not to process!

The branches on the left are definitely out of focus. They are from another tree in the foreground. I thought they gave the image some balance. Then the DOF may not have helped me here for the rest of the problem.

Here is my humble abode, which needs a good power wash.

    2021:09:26 12:29:51 : NIKON D810 : 27mm : 64 ISO : F5.6 : 1/60 sec : 5/3 EV

And here is a view down the street from my front yard.

    2021:09:26 12:29:17 : NIKON D810 : 27mm : 64 ISO : F5.6 : 1/60 sec : 5/3 EV

These were taken with my AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G ED DX lens. So, the camera was in DX mode (15.4MP).

This lens has always been a perfect lens for infrared images. I have never had a problem using it for infrared.

I've been told to shoot with the sun at my back for best IR results. Seems to hold true most of the time.

Here's a couple from today, I was playing around in LR and thought I'd try and get green grass.

Wow, Jon! What a great place and an excellent photo! I'd be tempted to try a bw version for fun.
