I went to Cypress Gardens in Monks Corner, South Carolina today. I have not been there for about five years or so. It is only 18 miles from my home. It has 4.5 miles of walking paths and trails, and 80 acres of open swamp. Actually, rather nice. You can paddle boats around most of the swamp area. I've never done that. Too afraid of losing camera gear!

    A few images.

This was with a new lens: Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR AF-S

It was on the Kolari list as a good infrared lens. I bought it from keh.com. Since I do not have a 77mm IR filter for the lens, I can not test it on my D810. I am testing it on my D700. So far, it appears to be doing the job. At least today. I have a 77mm IR filter coming soon. I need to test this lens on the D810.

Thanks Randy. No, I have not seen that video. I have been within six feet of a ten footer that was in the middle of a walking path. Needless to say, I turned around, and went the other direction!

Do a search on Clyce Butcher wading in the Everglades! I have seen some pictures of him wading in water up to his shoulders with an 8X10 on a tripod, in alligator and venomous snake infested waters of the Everglades.

You gotta pull up your big boy underwear to do that!!

I have been in close proximity of many large alligators on Ossabaw Island, and whenever I see one I really hop to attention.

One time I led 10 people over a sleeping in the Sun rattlesnake

Southern IL, I was first into Devil's Kitchen lake, with people jumping in behind, very hot day

I opened my eyes underwater to see a mass of Cottonmouth, I popped up and started yelling get out now

Nobody hurt, then we saw the sign, 'No Swimming Snakes'

Years later we got comfortable with snake in our pond. They stayed in the reeds, while we used open water to swim

The stocked Bluegill however nibbled on any naughty parts, we all swimming naked, until children were born

Once found in WI beside our home, an 8" Rattlesnake was really pissed off at me. I let it be, but huge nest was in the creek

I have seen many Clyde Butcher video

    I now live near this

Here is another one from yesterday. Both false color, and black & white.

I'm thinking Peter would like to see this comparison.

    Thanks, Jon! Really good photos!
