    Re: Digital IR

    Hi Peter,
Thanks, I'll try again with those steps, just having trouble removing all of the blue cast from non-sky and non-cloud elements effectively.
A lot depends on the light conditions, time of day, UV index, etc.
If shot at the right time and at the right angle to the sun, then some of these colors fall in line easily. But it's not always possible to line yourself up with the sun properly.
My color blindness is pretty common: I have trouble with hues, telling red/green apart and naming colors. But I don't see in black and white or anything like that.

I find color IR extremely frustrating, in part because when I follow someone else's settings, theirs looks great after a couple clicks of the mouse, and mine looks like garbage.
I tried this as well: https://photographylife.com/infrared...y-720nm-filter
My photo looked nothing like his, not even close.
Thanks Ari, I'll check this out.

A quick re-work of an old file.

    2014:04:03 11:15:47 : NIKON D2X : 93mm : 100 ISO : F8 : 1/160 sec : 0 EV

When my Nikon D2x had a 720nm filter.

Playing with the channel mixer and the Nik Collection.

I think that was the reason full spectrum digital cameras were first created. To allow these type of images to be made by amature astronomers.

    Re: Digital IR

I'm annoyed at not being able to do all the processing in LR, but the PS workflow is getting a bit easier.
I installed an update to Camera Raw, so at least I can apply lens profiles in PS along with the rest of the steps needed.
After a stint in Viveza to get the skies looking ok, final tweaks are done in LR.
