    Thomas Safelight bulb exchange

The bulb has burned out in my Thomas safelight. I tried to unscrew the bulb but it won't budge. It doesn't help that it is difficult to access and to work your hand in there to unscrew it. Is there something special you need to do remove the bulb?

Don't forget to put the support wire/band back that helps support the lamp. The sockets can crack, I got a very used one with a broken socket, little epoxy, easy fix. I don't know of a nicer light.
All the street lights are LED now, I miss the yellow sodium lights.

That bulb is a standard street lighting bulb. If you purchase a new one that way after a web search you'll save a lot of money over a "Thomas Safelight Bulb." The bulb life is supposed be be 18,000 hours or something like that.

I've used them for many decades, but question whether I need one going forward, I've tried the "super bright LED" approach mentioned here so many times and it is less trouble.
