How to Find the Desired Lens from Sellers

    Hi everybody,

Total noob here, Sorry about stupid question.

I was reading some patent and lectures on cooke triplet and I am trying to buy lenses involved separately.

My problem is that I do not know how to search the internet by the curvature and the thickness (and diameter of the lens). Is it possible or all lens sellers do it by the focal distance and/or lens power?

I am in need of a lens with radiuses of 40 and -47 and the thickness of 1.

Sorry again if it is a very irrational question.

Thanks for any helps and suggestions.

This sounds like a difficult and complicated way to eventually get a lens that is, shall we say, "sub-optimal". You may find thiss DIY effort rewarding, but in the end it is my opinion that the juice is just not worth the squeeze.

I wish you well on this project. Let us know what you do and how it turns out.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

fred, the glasses' properties -- refractive index and dispersion -- are as important as the elements' thickness and curves.
