ProTactic is a very good bag for minimal equipment on medium-long hikes.
In the same vein, the Tenba Axis (20L, 24L or 32L) is also excellent.

I have a Chamonix F2 with tripod head RRL, two small lenses and one 210, 6 filmholders in Chamonix’s bag and a Gitzo tripod in the Osprey FarPoint 40. I can add a fresh T-shirt and a toothbrush for a weekend trip. Very comfortable on the hips.

Apologies all for the late reply.

Work has had me hard at it!

Thank you for all the info opinions and links. I will check them out.

I actually got a bag to test today that looked half way between a daily and a possible camera bag,

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Smart enough and does not actually look like a camera bag.

I dont plan to do any major hiking but more going to a location in the city etc

    Will report back!

It looks like something expensive might be inside.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

One pack that is rarely mentioned is Peak Designs' "Everyday Backpack 20L." Not cheap, but very well made and has a myriad of ingenious design features which let you pack it in multiple ways. I bought one for my Canham DLC plus holders, meters, a couple of lenses, filters, etc. It is not designed specifically only for cameras, but they are one of the "target" design items. While many concentrate on price, my approach has been to try and buy an item that will probably last me forever, rather than one I will end up replacing or upgrading multiple times. The same pack design is also available in a larger 30 liter size (I have the 20L which meets the airline carry-on limits, one of my requirements when I was looking for a smaller pack. I have a larger Photo Backpacker rig which is excellent, and carries more lenses, etc. but doesn't meet the airline carry-on limits, so I use it for car travel.)
