If I saw you hiking in the wilderness carrying a suit case, I’d probably give you wide berth!

Your image naturally reminded me of this one from the Cascades (Wash. state). Upper center, you can see the branches waving in the creek-caused breeze. I like what the ˝ sec. shutter speed did for the dreamy water flowing to the fallen tree.

Who needs hallucinogens when you can rotate a fallen tree 180°? ;^)

Everything in this image is a reflection, except the log & the bottom edge (where lake meets forest). And those blurry smears in the middle might look like imperfections in the emulsion, but they’re really lake-bottom objects.

Right-side up, this would be just another scene of sobriety in the Cascade Mountains, Washington state. (Or you can turn your head upside down for another look.)

Thanks to those distant sea stacks – which always beckon to me to visit in a kayak – I shared this in the “Islands in the Stream” thread, but since so many fallen trees are in the foreground, I thought it deserved a home here too.

The sun-bleached trees once grew in the giant, lush rain forests on the Olympic Peninsula (Wash. state), where they fell into raging rivers that carried them into the Pacific Ocean. Violent sea storms tossed them here. Life and death can be tough for a tree.
