An old friend offered us his D-2 he no longer uses.

ALL the condensers (many new) ALL the accessories, plus a Cold Light, extension, timer and lenses. The whole shebang!
    What do I do?
It is very generous however I already have a D-II (with hardly any accessories)
The D-2 would be an upgrade for sure just because of the extra goodies. Should I keep my D-II for parts or should I find for a new home for it?
My friend commented that D-2/D-II parts are getting harder to find.
    So I'm thinking on it.

    Any suggestions?

Depending on the coldlight for the D2 it may fit the DII that would be a reason for me to perhaps keep both. I still keep a 23c and my DII with Zone VI cold light. I can't say that I use the Condenser 23c very often though.

Does the D2 gift include a color head ?
If so, and you have the room, use the D2 for color and the DII for black and white, that's basically the set up I have.
Most of the accessories should fit each other, especially the lenses and the extensions.

I can put the D-II in mothballs in the garage. Then I'll have room.

It's an Omega cold light. It looks like a flying saucer.

    That I don't know. I'd doubt it.

hmm, if I recall correctly that should fit a DII, my first enlarger was a D2 and I later got the Omega flying saucer cold light
and a color head, when I found a DII in the trash I put the cold light on it to compare differences vs the condenser head.

The big difference between the earlier D-II and the later D-2 is the crank for the column on the 2 vs. the 'push-pull' manual lift on the II. Most of the parts will be cross-compatible.
The flying-saucer cold-light suffers from brightness fluctuations with lamp temperature (like all cold-lights), so will need a Metrolux controller or something similar to keep your exposures consistent.
