Your favorite Enlarger Timer

I have been using the Gralab but wonder if there si a more accurate and reliable alternative ? What is your experience?

beware of used timers, I have a box of spare junk, I keep for parts

I have bought more than one right here on this forum that did not keep time, no I did not send them back

I bought a new Gralab 300 20 years ago for another usage, it still works fine

An older 300 I fixed and use

Beseler Digi-Timer Enlarging Timer is working well

Darkroom fumes corrode many things

Tryed a metronome...

The Zone VI compensating enlarging timer is one of the best investments I have ever made. We have only window air-conditioners in the summer, and the timer evens out the power fluctuations that used to drive me batty. Whenever my cold light head finally gives out, I am only hopeful that, unless another becomes suddenly available, someone by then will have started producing a moderately priced LED diffusion head that either uses the same sensor apparatus, or doesn't need one.

I use a Gralab 450 with my Focomat V35 and a very old EPOI PrintRol with my Beseler 4x5. The LF enlarger has an Aristo VCL4500 cold light head on it so choice of an electronic timer is a consideration.

Alternatives? Almost anything! I use an RH Analyze Pro on my DeVere's. If you don't want an f-stop timer, then I'd use one of the LPL timers or for cold light heads a Metrolux II!

Time o lite with a foot pedal. When I was a lab rat it stayed at 5 seconds, never moved. It made everything simple and direct. Great for selective burning, too.
