I hope to be 57 next September.

My 14 year old niece will make her first LF image in a few days.

She has shot 35mm on a tripod with a cable release before.

The image she made has a weight that will live with her for her life

I am surprised myself at the respect she has for the traditional process.

Lina Bessonova is showing the magic to girls and boys like my niece.

"More power to her" as they say

You bet! I learned long ago not to underestimate anyone. I've been following Ms Bessanova for some time. I remember her finding that enormous enlarger, most people would have walked away. She rescued the beast. People think I'm nuts for accumulating sinks, old equipment. My wife is an artist, she's amazing. Absolutely more power to women and everyone!
    Best Regards Mike

I forgot. My great niece is going to be a freshman in high school this autumn. I gave her a Canon Powershot camera. She's using it constantly, she has a phone but she really digs the camera.

Here's a link to an interesting podcast from Silvergrain Classics with Mirko Böddecker and Lina Bessonova. Mirko runs Photo Impex and Adox. He and Lena are married, and there is a long discussion of Adox and the trials and tribulations of the analogue photo industry. Compelling stuff.

Side note, completely unrelated to the totally shocking idea that a photographer might associate with someone in the photography industry-- the inventor of the BMI scale specifically stated that it should not be used to evaluate individuals, but only populations.

Her social media presence is great for analog. I wish more of the EU products were available in the US. You can get Adox stuff but always at a premium so it's hard to justify. Their new XTol clone looks great, but you can't really get it here.

I don't know. The show reeks Mirko hype. Well, at least it's a film show.

Young folks passionate to carry forward the film and darkroom based traditions of us old fogeys will also be much more adept (than us) at passing our baton to a younger generation. For this we should be thankful!

'We' old people are just part of a long line of image makers

    All 'founders' are long gone

    Some forget how WE started

I with 40's mInox and a father who denied my buying an enlarger of any kind, 8×11 mm contact prints are worthless. Somebody gave me the camera, 1958.

Most likely I was actually trying to SEE, as I got my first glasses after that. Age 7, glasses made everything comprehensible and not miracle magic, as I could now read the chalkboard

for the record, father is not forgiven, he continued to...
