A custom made bag example for arca swiss 8x10

A month ago, I ordered a custom made bag from scratch for my arca swiss 8x10 camera to be loaded in a mountaineering backpack. Today I received the only one prototype bag in the world from Sakuma-san of Lamda Company, the manufacturer of camera backpacks in Japan.

    http://www.lamda-sack.com/index.html

Sorry the pages are in Japanese but you can use Google chrome and Google translator to translate them to your language.

Yes, I could just buy one of Lowepro backpacks, but it doesn’t meet my needs to carry other mountaineering stuff. Those are too small and not versatile to me.

The cloth material is like ballistic nylon with hard pad for protection of the camera.

That looks like an elegant solution! I've actually been testing out a Lowepro S&F duffle to haul around my Sinar Norma 8x10 in a similar fashion--I think the Sinar might be a bit more of a challenge than your A/S because its function carriers and locking levers tend to be sharp/protruding enough I think they'd wear through the 500 denier Cordura in short order.

Thanks for your comment. Arca 8x10 is difficult to carry around in the field unlike field fold cameras.

One more shot to reply PM to Danny. I didn’t intend to put the rail and 50cm optical bench in the bag when I designed but the rail set fits in the bag diagonally. The set may need a thin wrap though for protection.

This is a cool looking bag! And very easy for handling. Nowadays I shoot in good weather only, and carry the Sinar P2 8x10" just as it is. The tripod in the other hand, film holders and other stuff in a shoulder bag.
I must say, your bag makes a trip through the country much easier.
I bet you get past the 300 yards max that I walk with that Sinar.
I own the gear, but those don't make masterpieces. My everyday experience.

I used to have a Sinar X and hauled around with it in the field.
Soon I switched to an arca f-line classic 4x5.
I think Sinars need the disassembly to make it compact upon carriage.

Hi. Very light and compact bag. How much does it cost? Lamda accepts PayPal ?

Yes it does need disassembly, I've always been a huge fan of Arca-Swiss, the compact build and precision.

I paid 33,000 Yen including consumer tax 10%.
Sakuma-san told me the same price applies to make the copies.

Sakuma-san is an old man and runs his small business.
He needs to learn paypal and transferwise and so on.
So I plan to teach him how to export abroad.
