Information about tripod for Sinar P or P2

    Hello

I'm Nat from Italy, new to the world of large format, I am leaving the medium format (RB67) and thinking about buying a Sinar P or P2 of the videos I have seen (there are few) not if you understand well the tripod head attachment, question: can you mount a normal head (like Sirui K40, plate type arca swiss) in the etching of the camera.

    Thank you very much!

Hi Nat, the Sinar clamp that holds the rail has a standard 3/8" female thread. I would not advise an adapter from 3/8 to 1/4 with a heavy Sinar, but otherwise any Arca Swiss style plate should fit as long as you can fit a 3/8 screw through. Also, make sure that your Arca Swiss clamp can handle the weight.

Everything has to be very solidly built for a heavy Sinar P. Any kind of head can be accommodated, but their own head would be one of the better ones.

I used to own a Sinar P and used it on a Ries head. I had to crank it down really tight to keep the camera from spinning on the head. Drew is right about the Sinar heads. They have a pin on them to keep the camera rail clamp from spinning on the tripod head.
