    post your canyons and gorges

Fremont Canyon, a bit south and west of Casper, Wyoming, named after the prolific explorer John C. Fremont. That is the North Platte River on its way to a couple reservoirs before going on to Nebraska.

Thx -- it is an oldie. "Canyon Fever" -- the inability to stop and take a LF photograph because what the heck is around the next corner!

I have spent many days in JOshua Tree, but never run across anything that nice.

Me as well. Everytime I shoot there, everything just looks grey, and grey, and more grey on film. Wonderful shot Vaughn

The image is of Elaine Ling...she was an incredible Toronto-based photographer. She was very generous to allow me to photograph her. This image (5x7 silver gelatin contact print) is from the same area (the above was taken over behind the rocks on the upper right). She is using a Deardorff Special (4x5, Type 55, and a rented 450mm lens) making her own image across the canyon. It was especially fun seeing her results.
