    Director's viewfinder APP

Can anyone recommend an Android app for my cell phone where you can see the various views of 4x5 lenses? This way I can check which lens to use before mounting it on the camera.

I use an app called FOCAL
    https://apps.apple.com/no/app/focal-...er/id963973362
I assume they have an android version.

You can customise sensor/film size of the camera you’re emulating.
I had my Hasselblad on a tripod and I edited the film size until the app was showing me exactly the same frame as my hassy.

It doesn't seem you can use Focal in Android.

I use the Magic Film Viewfinder app on android. It's OK, but does the trick. You can use many 35mm, MF and up to 4x5 cameras. More may be available if you unlock premium for a price. Unfortunately, you only have a few aspect ratio options, and 4x5 isn't one of them so I use it on 4:3. Again, you can unlock more aspect ratios when paying to unlock premium.

In general though, it gives me a close enough idea for the shot. I may have to move a bit once I actually put the lens on the board.

If you find one better, I'd love to "upgrade" so let me know.

Well, I've been using the 4:3 crop in my Olympus E-PL1 micro 4/3 camera to represent my 4x5 LF. I use it in BW if I'm shooting that. And then as a light meter. I'll snap the shot so i have a record of the settings and view, sometime I;ll shoot a video and just record my voice as to the setting and movements. The transcribe all the stuff when I get home. One of the problems is that it only goes down to ISO 100 and Velvia is at 50. Also, the smallest aperture is f/22. So I have to adjust in my head and make mistakes sometimes.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner. After trying several apps, I decided on the viewing card.

If you decide to go Apple iOS at any time in the future, the Mark II Artist's Viewfinder is exceptional.

Mount the lens and see what it sees.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!
