    Flash Socket for Old Shutter?

The photo shows the flash connection on an old shutter, at least I think that's what it is. I would much rather have a PC socket, so evidently I need an adaptor. Would anyone know whether such things are available nowadays? Where? Click image for larger version.

You need an appropriate cord. Bipost to whatever your flash requires (pc, etc). Have one made by Paramount. You may read or hear of people jury-rigging from an old electric razor cord... but that’s raa was ally not worth the hassle and can be unreliable.

If your flash unit accepts a household plug to connect it then you just need a common cheater cord sold by most electronic and computer parts stores. Or an old razor cord. Otherwise you will have to pay much more and get a paramount cord.

OK, so the name is Bipost. That yields a hit even on Amazon, but: "Currently unavailable". https://paramountcords.com/product/b...male-6-inches/ looks better. Thank you!

Soon I am going to try Cold Heat Soldering to attach wires directly to the male Bi-Post. Female socket inserts can be handmade

Cold Soldering is actually resistance welding by electricity, a proven technology

I discounted this invention for a long time, but now tool cost has diminished

I hope it works, as finding cables has become a big problem, yet I have at least a dozen, some don't fit. some have dried out insulation and some are way clumsy

I have bought at least 5 NOS Paramount cords direct from Paramount over the last 7 years, and even got free cords from LFPF members

Not all fit what I need, which include solenoid shutter triggers, FocuSpot lamps and shutter flash sync

Seems there are at least 2 sizes, I have brand new Paramount cords with flexible insulation, but the cord will not fit the pins

I have tried a few cures, which failed

    Solder is next

You seem to have your troubles, Randy...

The Paramount cords fit a bit tighter than Graflex cords did but they’ve worked for me. It’s not like Paramount just started thinking about this...

But good luck with your theory; hope you succeed.
