UV LED box for alt printing

    Hi guys,
Looked at Tim Layton's site for converting his lightbox. I bought the same UV lights he has. So economical and I can't wait.

Has anyone else built a box? I'm using a 1x4 for the sides, so I figure about between 3-4" from light surface to contact frame.

In his website, he does 2.5" in between lights. I'm wondering if that was the space in between the LED or 2.5" in between the strips (which will make the LED a little farther apart.

I've seen some DIY lightboxes with those lightstrips from Amazon, and they are spaced a lot more closer.

My largest camera right now is an 8x10, any thoughts on spacing the LED closer? Or farther? Or start with 2.5" in between the lights (not the light holder).

    Great source thank you!!

I'm glad I'm doing wood, I was thinking "cheap" and just getting a garage storage box. But with wood, I can build legs on the side to raise it up and down if I need to.

TinCan, your flickr links from the above post are not working. Do I need to sign into Flickr to see them?

....nvrmind, I signed in, and still doesn't show up. Bad linky?

Here is one idea, for example:

There are some mentions of the spacing of the LED strips, but there does not seem to be a set rule.

    Here is another box construction:

I still haven't gotten around to buying a soldering iron and learn how to do this, but some time in the future ...

Jimi, those are LEGIT looking plans thank you so much!

I just finished it today in between phone meetings.

Basically, it's just a 2x2 plywood, I spaced it out 2.5inches in between lights. 1x4 on 2 sides only so open on the 2 other sides. I figure, if people can do it via sunlight, don't really need to "trap" light inside it. I can always just block it with a piece of wood. I don't need anything purty, I just want light

Or I can staple some felt to the open ends, and just lift it up and down if I need to.
