Two completely different animals. There was the Beseler/Minolta flashtube rig, rather weak, versus the completely different Universal (a designation unfortunately given to a number of other Beseler things too), which was tricolor RGB halogen. Both were quite innovative in design, but deficient due with respect to details and specific components. Correcting the latter is well worth it, but does require some patience. But my own are so tricked out and accessorized as to make them almost a redesign.
