Sam -- for much online information on Graphic and Graflex cameras, go to https://graflex.org/. Another fine resource is Graphic Graflex photography by Morgan & Morgan, usually available used online. Be sure to get the 11th edition for full coverage of your cameral.
My experience with Grafmatics (and I think I have 8 of them) is that some don't work very well in the vertical orientation.

Most times when I have a grafmatic malfunction where it locks up with a frame exposed all it takes to get it loose is tilt the camera to point up and rattle the slide gently and it eventually lets go an allows you to finish the cycle.
