Once I get my Sinar Norma standards back together again, I need to ensure that they are adjusted to each other correctly. I have gone through the instructions from the video and understand the general idea of it. I may be confused and missed out on details, but ...

Determining that the standards are level to each other is done with two round wooden dowels. Fine, but is there some reason that using straight rulers, square pieces of metal or similar is not a good idea? What if the dowels are uneven, out of round - how much precision is needed?

Using the alignment mirrors ... can one do the whole procedure with only these?
