Me, I’m plugging along with my ancient Aristo cold light head (not the newer V54) and using yellow filtration to tame the blue light that comes out of that thing like water from a fire hose. The unfiltered cold light is like having a built-in grade 4 or 5 filter. I play that against yellow filtration to achieve a sort of split-grade printing process with Ilford multi-grade classic paper. My Aristo head is at least 30 or more years old. I hope it outlives me.
And what a Great head the cold light heads are! As long as you use a compensating timer with them! I've used many from a 12x12 with an Omega F, to a 5x7 head with my SM-183 to several 4x5 round with Beseler 4x5 enlargers. Never found a difference between the older tubes (with 40 cc yellow) to the newer V54 tubes! Only reason I no longer use them is that the LPL has a great VCCE diffusion head and the Deveres use their diffusion dichroic heads!
