Sounds like an exciting adventure! Welcome aboard.

    Hi,

Thank you. I am located in New York. When you say sale and wanted items in not possible for 30 days does that mean I will get an invite to a new forum at the end of the 30 day period?

Thanks. It sounds like the Ilford multigrade heads are not reliable. Do you know what breaks on them?

Using a color head for B&W sounds difficult. I assume you would have to convert the colors to the contrast grades. How would someone do that?

    Increasing magenta filtration increases contrast.
    Increasing yellow filtration reduces contrast.
Different papers respond differently, usually there is a chart in the paper instructions with filter pack "grades".
    Not difficult.

Ilford has a chart to use with their papers but the VCCE head is easier.

After 30 days have past, you will simply see the buy/sell sub forums appear when you log in. If you're in New York, there should be a good deal of equipment available, though maybe less so now because of the pandemic.

Page 3 of this document shows how to use a color head for variable contrast.

Do you have your own darkroom where you plan on putting this enlarger?

The FS and WTB subforums will become visible to you after you have been registered for 30 days. Normally this will happen automatically, but occasionally the Forum software hiccups, so if you still can't see those subforums after 30 days, please contact the moderators and we will update your status manually.
