E-Bay: What can I do If the buyer won't Pay?

I have now sold an item or tow or three . . .all good. e-Bay, PayPal and my little bank account all integrating ass hoped.

Now I have sold a small item but the buyer has not paid. The auction went off on Sunday and here it is Friday. E-Bay has sent a "reminder". Yesturday, I sent off a politely worded request for payment.

What shoujld I do now? Should I wait a few dayas more? How can I close this out as a failed sale and offer this item again?

    I am poen to suggestions.

You can do nothing to make the guy pay. You can't give him bad feedback, buyers do no wrong.

I think eBay has a rule that you can cancel the transaction, after a time. But the usual way is very convoluted, requiring both seller and buyer agreeing to cancel. And he can still give YOU bad feedback, though you can usually ask ebay to remove it. Another thing you can do is just try to relist it, and put "buyer never paid, so I'm relisting" so other people won't wonder why it's showing up twice.

But if you’re asking the “ethical” question... a full week is what I’d allow even with daily reminders to pay... sometimes there are extenuating circumstances it seems... but that’s just me.

That said, Drew... I generally pay for my “wins” within an hour. You’d love me as a buyer.

Had a buyer of a $10 item suddenly pay up 2-3 weeks late. Said he had had a heart attack......

If it's a cheap enough item, hang out for a bit. Keep sending courteous reminders.

Well there is cheap and then there is cheap.

This auction went off at $120.

Can you sell it to the second lowest bidder or do you have to rebid if the original bidder falls through?

Drew, you can file a non-paying bidder complaint with Ebay. They will refund your selling fees, and you can relist the item. You might be able to send a second chance offer to the next highest bidder, but only after the NPB sequence is complete

That’s how you handle it. File the non-payment complaint now. That gives the buyer 96 hours to pay. If you don’t receive payment by the end of that time, you can close the case and ebay will refund your fees.

Once that’s done, it may be possible to offer it to one of the underbidders.
