Re: Durst 138S - asking for detailed instructions

I'll post a picture of it this afternoon it *is* together. I have 2 problems: firstly the switch to the head has to be replaced and more importantly the table will not lock I tried to retension the Bowden cable at the footpedal last night and it will not budge. Later I'll try opening up the arm and see if that helps. I'm hoping this is not related to the spring because if it is I'll just have to figure a way to work around it. Anyway, the arm/table travel up and down freely, no sticking anywhere it just won't stay locked. It'll kind of grab when I try to lock it but then I can just move it up or down. Anyway, picture this afternoon

I won't comment on that because I'm not very familiar with that table. In case you can't fix that I will say that my enlarger table is almost always all the way down anyway and I have gotten very used to that. It is always easier for me to move the head up and down than mess with the table height.

Does the front knob not tighten and fix the table height?

Here it is, it's quite well used so next I'll clean/degunk every piece I can get to and/or remove. Then fix the switch, then play with the arm and hope I can fix it. Thank you to everyone who replied I don't know why they screwed in the wood braces around the perimeter of the baseboard unless to prevent warping but it's not warped at all.

cowanw: The front knob does seem to tighten but it has no effect - the table still slides back up to the top.

Just to be sure, because of the skirt, can you access the knob under the table That is number 54 in this manual on page 14? https://usermanual.wiki/Document/DUR...047907326/view
If that is not working to fix the table at height, you will have to open the bottom of the arm and see what's amiss.

OK, I see, yours is using the counter spring, so you can easily move it up and down (when in the functional state). Mine has no counterweight but uses a slow and somewhat hard to turn manual worm gear drive. Offset by a 'push-button' drive for the head.
I hope these guys can help you get it to stay fixed in place.

cowanw: I can access both knobs just fine - the bigger one on the right that's supposed to fix the table even tightens - it just doesn't have any effect the table still slides all
the way to the top. I'll get into the arm tomorrow and see if that doesn't do it.

ic-racer: it moves up and down just fine, like it was just lubed *g* it just won't stay where I want it

    Tomorrow is another day
