    UK LF photographers?

    Hi,

I'm Miriam - I'm in the UK in the south west. This isn't a typical intro I suppose, so please accept my apologies if this is in the wrong place, or needs to be taken down/moderated.

I've got a extensive collection of large format equipment that I need to dispose of. These are my dad's - who worked for a long time in the industry. I'd like it to go to a good home, because it all meant a lot to him, but I don't know where to start, including a lot of scanning equipment, printers, a 10x8 and more.

If there are any UK people that can suggest anywhere, that would be amazing - I imagine it would be too difficult to ship overseas. I would just like it to be used by someone, as I know there was so much of his heart in it all.

    Thanks x

There are a number of UK photographers on this forum. You may want to PM them individually for help.

    Hi Miriam.

I am not in UK, but USA, and have no interest in any of it. As I became involved in something similar 8 years ago. The father of 4 passed first. Mother only recently. The 'camera room' was stuffed from floor to ceiling. It took one son and me 2 days of removing things to just get in the room. Now 8 years later they are still finding very good items all over the house. Some of the best inside a piano.

Perhaps your father had a working darkroom and studio, where everything is in place and ready to go. Sell that in one go.

A bulk sale can simplify the problem and years of picking it over may not produce a lot more money.

Everybody is a hunter of good deals.

Perhaps a professional estate sale person can help. I have one I use and he researches what is what then sells.

    Good luck to you

The UK Large Format Photography forum has been dormant for years, not much point in posting there.

That's the old UK Forum, this one appears to have taken over etc:

    Hi Miriam

I've already got a some large format gear but may be interested in any scanning and printing equipment or anything else; I'm London based. You could private message me. One thing to think of as well are auction houses of which there are a number specialising in photographic equipment with regular sales throughout the year.

    Hi Miriam

the three 'leading' UK Auction Houses specialising in Cameras, are:-

    Aston Auctioneers, Dudley

    SAS, Newbury; and

    Flints, near Newbury

In addition, Chiswick Auctions do a fair bit - and btw the Auction Houses, in say Devon and Cornwall aren't really specialists in Photo Equipment

    regards

    Andrew
