    Large Azo Show Opens This Sunday

    A large group show opens this sunday at the Metropolitan Center for the Visual Arts in the Washington DC area called:

    AZO -> CONTACT -> PRINT

    Paul Paletti of the Paletti Gallery is curating this show which will feature approximately 60 Azo contact prints from Joe Freeman, Scott Killian, George Provost, Jim Shanesy and Steve Sherman. This is a wonderful exhibit space - we encourage those of you who can make it to attend the opening reception and/or the gallery talk. Both are open to the public and the details are below. I'll be at both events with most of the other photographers and we look forward to meeting any of you who can attend.

    Meanwhile, the Jan/Feb issue of View Camera Magazine will also have a piece about this event including reproductions of some of the photos on exhibit.

    Paul Paletti is one of my favorite people in this business. Though he a lawyer now, we went to undergraduate photo school together in the early 70's at the University of New Mexico. he went on to get an MFA before going into law. He is a very knowledgeable and sincere collector, gallery owner and curator with impeccable taste. I'm sure the exhibit will be stunning.
    Thanks,
    Kirk

    I just realized that I said the opening was this sunday - it is actually a week from this sunday (Jan 8th). The dates are all correct. My mistake.

    I wish I could be there. I've been gifted with some of Jim Shanesy's beautiful work, and I'd love to see more of it, along with that of his fellows. Congratulations to you all, and good luck.

    I attended the opening of this show today. The photographs are black-and-white landscape and architecture contact prints. Most are 8x10, though some are 4x5 and a few were shot with a 7x17 banquet camera. All are very nice. I highly recommend this exhibit to anyone in the D.C. area. It runs through February 4.

    I went by today and must say the stop was well worthwhile. Lovely set of images and nicely displayed so you could actually appreciate them unlike so many dimly lit exhibits.
