    Arista EDU 100 (Fomapan 100) in HC-110?

I didn't want to derail the Rodinal thread, so thought I'd start a new thread.

While I wait for some 8x10 Arista EDU 100 to arrive, I've been looking up developing it with HC-110, which doesn't seem to be a preferred developer.
However, it's the one I use, and I always mix it for Dilution H (1:63).

Based on dilution B times of 6 minutes, I've determined a developing time of 9 minutes in a Jobo tank at 70F. That's a starting point.

Is anyone using this film & developer? Can you describe any problems or successes you've had?
Maybe even post a photo, if you're so inclined?

    Thank you

I use that combo processed on a CPP-2, 3005 drum, HC-110 (H) for 7 mins @20C. Based on my own testing, your starting time seems a little long, but we all typically arrive at different times/temps. Anyway, it's not my favorite developer for this film, but it's perfectly fine.

    Thanks, Alan; much appreciated.
Forgot to ask: do you also expose Arista at its rated speed? I thought to start off at 80 ISO in determining my development time.
I do like my negs a bit denser, usually, but I'd be just as happy if 7 minutes development looked good.

OK, to be honest I don't use the Arista EDU version of Fomapan 100, rather I use Foma. But, same thing so my time should work for the Arista EDU film, too.

My experience with Fomapan is that I have trouble controlling contrast. One thing that's worked reasonably well for me with HC-110 however is semi-stand development: 1:100 to 1:150 dilution for about an hour. Keep in mind the minimum solution per film rule that is important for HC-110, I am using a Jobo tank that holds 12 sheets and needs 3 liters of chemistry so this works out ok. Also, I think HC-110 has been reformulated three times in recent years, so there's yet another variable.
