    have done this many times, secret is to proceed slowly and as gentle as you can and then some.

    Not worth bothering to try and clean it, if it's dirty just get a replacement first-surface mirror. They are not expensive, and are readily available, custom-cut to size.

    Neat camera, will be interesting to see more of it. Post some pics of the interior if you get a chance.

    Electronic flash is the key

    I have the Gowland TLR 4X5

    but can't see well enough to use it!

    I shoot a lot with at 1/25th with strobes, works fine
